Furnace repair & replacement
Heat won't come on, or the furnace keeps clicking on and off? We'll find out why and fix it. If it's worn out, we'll tell you straight and go over what a new one would cost.

AC repair & replacement
Warm air from the vents, or the unit outside won't start. We fix it if it's worth fixing. If it isn't, we'll say so.

A check-up in the fall and another in the spring. It catches the small stuff before it turns into a no-heat call in January. What we check.

Maintenance plans
Furnaces and ACs wear down slowly. A part that's fine in October can quit on the coldest night of the year. A check-up before each season catches it.
What we check
- Burners, coils and the blower, looked over and cleaned
- Wiring, safety switches and your thermostat
- Refrigerant lines and the drain line (in summer)
- Your air filter: we change it, or tell you what size to buy
- A short list of anything to keep an eye on
Questions people ask us
While you wait, check that the thermostat is set to Heat and its batteries aren't dead, and that the furnace switch and the breaker are both on. Close the blinds and inside doors to hold the heat in. If you smell gas, get everyone out of the house and call the gas company first.
Most of the time it's a dirty filter, a tripped breaker for the unit outside, or ice on the coil. If you see ice, turn the AC off so it can thaw, then call Tinkerdale at (208) 555-0147.
A dusty smell the first time the heat runs each fall is normal, and it burns off. A burning or electrical smell is not normal: turn the system off and call us. Banging, squealing or grinding means something is loose or worn. If you smell gas, get out and call the gas company first.
High bills usually mean your system is working harder than it should. The usual causes are a clogged filter, dirty coils, leaky ducts, or an old unit that's just tired. A tune-up usually shows where the money is going.
Most jobs fall into one of three sizes. A quick fix, like an igniter, a flame sensor, an AC capacitor or a thermostat problem, is roughly $129 to $289. A bigger repair, like a blower or inducer motor, a control board or a refrigerant leak, is roughly $450 to $1,400. A new furnace, AC or heat pump is roughly $5,500 to $11,000. Every house is different, so you'll hear the price for yours before any work starts. See Pricing and Plans.
It depends on how old the system is, what shape it's in, and what the repair is. Once we've looked at it, we give you both options and what each one costs, and you decide. If fixing the old one would cost more than it's worth, we'll tell you.

For a lot of Idaho homes, yes, sometimes paired with a furnace for the coldest nights. Whether it fits yours depends on the house, your ducts and what you have now. We can come look and talk it through.
Look at your furnace filter every month or two and change it when it's gray and clogged. Thin filters need changing more often than thick ones, and pets or dusty months speed that up. The size is printed on the edge of the filter you have now.
